About
I am a Ugandan-German freelance writer and researcher, based between Uganda, the UK and Germany. I hold a PhD in East African history from the University of York, where I researched the history of women’s writing after independence in Uganda and Kenya.
I have written for both academic and non-academic publications, and am currently working on turning my PhD thesis into a monograph.
I work at the intersections of academic and public history, striving to make academic historical research accessible to wide audiences. I have spoken about my research on television documentaries and podcasts, and also work as historical consultant with film and television.
I hold an MA in African Studies from SOAS University of London, and a BA in International Studies from Leiden University, whcih was supplemented by an Erasmus exchange semester at Université Toulouse – Jean-Jaurès.
